Hayne is being widely tipped for a recall for Origin II on June 15 on the wing, with Brett Morris struggling with a hamstring injury.
It was reported Hayne was overlooked for the opening game in Brisbane by Blues coach Ricky Stuart due to a perceived attitude problem, but Kearney said the claims could not be further from the truth.
"Jarryd has been Jarryd all year and nothing has changed that," he said on Thursday.
"I think if anything, his leadership qualities have shown through since the disappointment of not making Origin, which has been real pleasing and a credit to him and the way he has responded. He's been great."
Kearney admitted he was surprised at Hayne's attitude being called into question, but refused to be drawn on whether the 23-year-old, who was the Blues man of the series in 2009, should be recalled.
"I haven't seen it being quoted by Ricky Stuart or someone connected with the team, so it's not an issue as far as I'm concerned," he said.
"I expected him to be involved in the last game, but it is not something for me to comment on. My focus is on Parra."
