It was in Huddersfield that the leading clubs of Yorkshire and Lancashire met to decide the formation of the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895. Since then, Huddersfield RLFC has enjoyed much success, including winning all four cups available in the 1914-1915 season with the side that came to be known as the "Team of All Talents."
