NRL video referee 'rested'

Updated May 30, 2012 09:15:17

Senior video referee Sean Hampstead has been rested for this weekend's round of NRL matches after two questionable decisions.

Hampstead was the video referee who awarded the controversial try to Queensland's Greg Inglis in last week's State of Origin opener in Melbourne.

He was also involved in another controversial decision in Sunday's game between Penrith and Manly, which resulted in a Panthers try.

The NRL says Hampstead is one of five or six referees to be rested for this weekend's full round of fixtures.
